Delifonseca Dockside is set to celebrate Wine and Cheese Day next week in style by hosting a true culinary contest.
The foodie establishment, located on Brunswick Quay, will have its crackers and grapes at the ready as it hosts a full-flavoured quiz with a difference on Tuesday, July 25, where participants will be challenged to put their taste buds to the test with a selection of weird and wonderful cheeses from around the globe, paired with the appropriate vinos to match.
Proprietor of Delifonseca Candice Fonseca said: “It’s commonly assumed that cheese goes best with red wine and many do, but there are other perfect wine pairings. Here at Delifonseca Dockside we thought we would celebrate the annual Wine and Cheese Day by exploring and celebrating these more adventurous pairings with ‘grate’ fun, flavours and a little competition.
“On the evening itself, our General Manager Tom Ford will play quizmaster as Merlot masterminds, Camembert connoisseurs, Sauvignon students and Brie beginners all go head to head to find the real ‘Cheesy Champion’ and ‘Wine Winner’ of the night.
“We’re looking forward to serving up a selection of ‘roulette’ style flavourings to our guests, from the commonly known classics to more off the wall flavours for a walk on the wild side.”
The cheese and wine tasting event and quiz will begin at 6:30pm on Wine and Cheese Day (Tuesday, July 25) and will kick off with an introduction from Delifonseca Dockside’s in-house wine and cheese experts Lavinia Cooke and Tom Ford.
Participants will be nibbling their way through lots of different cheeses whilst sipping various drinks. They’ll be able to experiment with pairings and scrutinise each one whilst filling in a fun multiple-choice quiz sheet
Candice added: “Throughout Wine and Cheese Day, our in-house restaurant’s ever-changing Blackboard Menu will also be stocked with several cheesy dishes, and of course, our talented team will be on hand to recommend the perfect wine pairings to accompany each recipe to truly make the most of the day’s celebrations.
“For those wishing to enjoy the merriments from the comfort of their own home, our cheese counter is bursting with a selection of dairies from the mild to the strong and the floral to the fruity, while our specialist wine selection is home to a range of red, white, rose, cava and more to really whet the appetite!”
The Wine and Cheese Day Quiz will take place at Delifonseca Dockside on at 6:30pm on Tuesday, July 25. Tickets are priced at £20 per person.
