This weekend, FACT are hosting a unique event that allows visitors to connect across Europe with a homemade teleporter and a ‘cloud’ in a Star Trek-esque experience.

‘Ready to Cloud’ uses theatrical fog, a hacked launch pad, motion recognition technology and a high speed internet connection to Bauhaus Dessau, Germany to connect visitors in both locations.

The project will allow visitors to step inside the digital cloud which floats above us all and interact with a person on the other side of the continent.

By scanning the person, and simultaneously displaying them as a full size 3D hologram-like image in the other country, users in both cities can interact in real time and share electronic impulses.

This project is brought to FACT by Berlin-based artist collective The Constitute who say they were inspired by Star Trek style teleportation.

The first tests took place outdoors during the Milan Design Week and now new avatar behaviours, interaction patterns and a brand new cloud generator will be debuted for the first time live at FACT.

Ready to Cloud takes place at this Friday 6th and Saturday 7th September from 8.30pm to 10pm. Entry is free with no booking required!
