The relaunch of The Amazing Spider-Man reveals that Peter Parker was not the only victim of the radioactive spider.

In the original Spider-Man comics, Peter Parker was bitten by a radio active spider and was given spider powers including being able to shoot webs from his hands.

But a revelation in the relaunch tells us that seconds after he was bitten, a female classmate was also bitten.

The new character will be named ‘Silk’ and according to Marvel Senior Editor Nick Lowe, will become a major character over the next couple of years.

Although it has not been confirmed whether she is an ally or an enemy to Spider-Man, it seems she will be an important character for the up and coming ‘Spiderverse’ which will see multiple incarnations of the superhero including ‘Peter Porker, Spiderham.’

A complete look has not been released for Silk apart from long brown hair and an all in one suit decorated with webs. This seems to give away that webbing will play a large part in Silks powers.

Nick was particularly excited about Silks look.

“Silk’s powers and look is very influenced in webs. Humberto Ramos did some incredible design work on Silk. I can’t wait to show it all off!”

The new series will see Peter Parker being brought back into a title role after he has been MIA since ‘Superior Spider-Man’ in 2013.

Although Amazing Spider-Man #1 will be published this Wednesday, Silk will not be introduced until #4 in July but there will be clues and hints about her from the issue released this week.

Fans are particularly interested in why Silk has been kept hidden for all of these years, if she was bitten on the same day as Peter Parker, they feel that the writers should have a good excuse for why she hasn’t surfaced before.

Look out for the first episode of the relaunch which will be released both digitally and in comic book stores on April 30th.
