ACBA image of the week: NWA era Ric Flair

We’ve been wrestling with the working week, it’s been a squash match because it went by quick as it’s Sunday once again.

We’re back with an ACBA image of the week, this week is a shot taken from the NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) promotion which was prominent in the 1980s before it became mostly known as WCW.

This shot is by huge wrestling fanatic Michael Amtsberg. It shows off Ric Flair hitting Road Warrior Animal with a low blow before nailing him with a chain.

Definitely an interesting image, we reached out to Michael for his inspiration behind this shot, here’s what he had to say:

“I was watching some old NWA matches and there was a eight man Tag Team Match, it was the Four Horsemen vs The Road Warriors, Dusty Rhodes and Nikita Koloff match, the crowd was really hyped, this inspired me to do a shot.”

“I’ve been doing a series of ACBA shots recently, I give a wrestling term definition and a picture to match the definition, I felt that this image went well with the definition of the term “Cheap shot” because “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair is known as “The Dirtiest Player in the Game”

We’d like to thank Michael for this brilliant shot!

This is the first wrestling based shot we’ve chosen for ACBA image of the week and it certainly won’t be our last!
