Leslie Loh is about to burst on to the music scene and with a music teacher for a mum it’s no surprise this talented new star, started tinkling the ivories from the age of three.
Now she can boast violin playing and singing to her talents that are all combined on debut album Metamothosis.
Leslie has given up her Bristol University course studying law and banking to run her own record company.
Leslie said: “Forget about the record label, I never even thought I would have an album.”
After a spell signed to a label forcing the Hong Kong-born singer to churn out generic R&B, Leslie decided to go things alone.
She explained: “It was too contrived.
“They didn’t want me to be recognised like a Vanessa Mae so they stopped me playing the violin – I ended up feeling that part of me was buried.
“Now I feel what I do is unique, but as soon as you give people something a little bit different they don’t know how to handle it.
“The rock music on the album is very cinematic and visual, whereas the slow stuff is more bare and just with a piano.”
The 31-year-old is releasing world-wide and contacts in America are already mentioning potential Grammy nominations.
Leslie grinned: “When I first went to LA I did all the partying because I didn’t know how long I was going to be there for.
“I hadn’t ever lived a lifestyle like that before.”
