Located within the gated walls of Knowsley Hall, the home of Lord Derby, The Chill Out Spa offersa fantastic experience for anyone seeking a special treat.
Victorian farm buildings have been carefully restored, with cobbled pathways and brickwork retaining their rural charms. Once inside, however, you step into a bright, luxurious world of contemporary design.
Relaxation is the name of the game from the moment you walk through the door, met with a warm smile in the reception area, friendly staff are on hand to guide you throughout your visit.
A full range of treatments are on offer, including nail treatments, waxing and tanning, to massages, body wraps, facials and detoxing rituals. Specifically designed packages for romantic couples, pampering days for mums and daughters and luxurious treats for hen dos are available to enjoy in a group. You can make a day of your spa break, with breakfast or lunch on offer in the café, with complimentary teas and coffees provided throughout your experience.
Arriving with a friend is advisable if you are to fully appreciate the facilities on offer. We were invited to spend a relaxing afternoon, starting with a 30-minute dip in the hydro spa whilst sipping on a glass of champagne. For those wanting to spread out in the hydro spa, it would best be enjoyed in pairs as the Jacuzzi is perfect, but petite. And do remember to bring your own flip flops as only bath robes and towels are provided.
The schedule of serenity continued as we were shown into the Tranquillity Lounge to recline on soft leather ‘chill out pads.’ Peaceful sounds of classical music and the trickle of an impressive water feature lulls you into a state of calm.
Completely at ease, we each opted to try the Collagen Velvet Facial, an anti-ageing treatment designed to tackle fine lines, wrinkles and to re-hydrate sun damaged skin.
Our luxurious treatments took place in the same room, with two extremely helpful and informative spa therapists talking us through each cream used before offering daily skin care advice tailored to our skin types. Priced at £65, this 60-minute facial is worth every penny, including a delightful head, shoulder and arm massage during which I nearly drifted into a blissful snooze.
Utterly at peace, we were given additional time in the Tranquillity Lounge, with chance to sample the free testers of the full range of Thalgo products available to purchase. Despite a busy day at the spa, were not rushed in returning to the outside world. Exuberant praise must be heaped upon the staff for their accommodating manner in delivering a wonderful spa experience. Excellent value for money for such a feeling of exclusivity.
