Tom Grennan returned to Halifax to bring the curtain down on his major summer tour, delivering yet another triumphant performance to a sold-out crowd at The Piece Hall – a venue he has built a strong connection with.
Opening the evening were Fiona-Lee and Finn Askew, who both impressed with assured performances that warmed up the audience perfectly. Fiona-Lee’s soulful vocals and heartfelt songwriting provided an intimate start to the evening, while Finn Askew’s polished blend of pop and indie influences struck a chord with the growing crowd.
As darkness fell, Grennan took to the stage to a rapturous reception, opening with recent single Full Attention from his latest album Everywhere I Went Led Me to Where I Didn’t Want to Be. It was an energetic statement of intent, with his trademark powerful vocals immediately igniting the crowd.
Opting for a set packed with fan favourites, he explained that he has rediscovered his love of performing and wanted to celebrate the songs that have defined his journey so far. The decision paid off, with the audience singing every word back to him throughout the evening.
Hits including Found What I’ve Been Looking For, Royal Highness, Let’s Go Home Together, Head Up, How Does It Feel, Lionheart and By Your Side kept the momentum high from start to finish, with Grennan’s infectious energy matched by an equally enthusiastic audience.
Closing out both the evening and his summer tour, Grennan left The Piece Hall on a high. With hints of new music and another album on the horizon, the show felt less like the end of one chapter and more like the beginning of the next. Given his obvious affection for Halifax and the warm reception he always gets, another return to The Piece Hall seems less a question of if, and more a question of when.
