ME have spent the last 12 months in and out of the UK, supporting Kasabian, Evanescence and Death From Above 1979 as well as touring with Panic! At The Disco, Twin Atlantic and King Charles.

They have also squeezed in shows at The Great Escape, Camden Crawl and The Reeperbahn Festival in Germany. The band’s six track debut mini album ‘Another Story High’ was recorded with renowned producer Simon ‘Barny’ Barnicott (Kasabian, Arctic Monkeys, Temper Trap) and is a release that suggests ME’s debut long player will confirm their status as one of the most exciting new rock bands to appear this side of the millennium.

ME are:
Luke Ferris (voice, guitar, piano) // Damian Tapley (guitar, voice) // Michael Godde (bass, voice) // Spike Rogers (drums, programming).

ME formed in 2008 in Melbourne, Australia although only drummer Spike is from Melbourne itself whereas Damian hails from Perth and Mikey scooted down from the snowy peaks of Mount Beauty. Guitarist Damian, who assembled the band in Melbourne, suggests that if ME have a message it is plain and simple: “We want our fans to be able to rely on us to create songs that provide energy or sadness in equal measure and for those songs to stay with people for a long, long time.”

LUKE
Patrick Watson – Close to Paradise.
“This is easily one of my Favourite albums of the last 10 years. I have listened to it perhaps too much at times. Patrick Watson is a Canadian singer/songwriter who has a sort of “Jeff Buckley playing Tom Waits on the piano” sound. There’s loads of trippy, creepy sounds, beautiful melodies and interesting instrumentation. Stand out tracks are Daydreamer, Luscious Life and Drifters. This album always gets played at some stage in the tour van as it is well loved by the whole band. This is album makes me feel nostalgic and reminds me of good times in Melbourne.”

DAMIAN
Mastodon – Crack the Skye (2009)
“The guitarwork on this album is supreme. To be honest it took me about two years to really get it. The dissonance is where it’s at with Mastodon. This album has been my earphones anthem for the last 6 months. I can listen to it anywhere and draw instantly from its “mystic power”!!”

King Charles – Loveblood (2012)
“After highly enjoying how good the music is, I realised the lyrics on this album are absolutely phenomenal. King Charles himself says the album is written about unrequited love as opposed to heartbreak, which gives the songs a much different feel to other love songs. It’s lovely stuff. We just finished touring around UK with King Charles, and found ourselves wanting to see and hear every note of every song of theirs every night. They create such a special atmosphere in the venues. A forever memorable tour. A favourite is ‘Polar Bears’, which has been in my head every day since.”

MIKEY
Flaming Lips- Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots.
“Listening to Yoshimi is one of my favorite pastimes, in fact I did it just before receiving the letter from purple revolver. First I’ll start with my favorite line in the whole album; regarding Yoshimi’s epic battle against the robots “she’s gotta be strong to fight them… So she’s taking lots of vitamins” cracks me up.. Anyway it’s beautifully written (even if one of the songs is blatant plagiarism from Cat Stevens- see if you can pick it) and always makes me happy in a very childish way, Luke reckons the Flaming Lips concert he saw was the best live show he has seen… I trust his opinion.”

The Mars Volta- Deloused In The Comatorium
“I can perfectly air drum to this whole album… Start to finish… Nailed…
I don’t recommend being within 5 meters of me while this happens or you might cop an air stick in the eye. This album is also good for the following activities:

Running
Jumping
Skipping
Winning
Making babies
Attempting to make babies
Ruining a dance party
Being your favorite album ever.”

SPIKE
Zeppelin IV
“Zeppelin’s powerhouse classic album. This one certainly solidified their history as rock greats. We visited the house where they recorded this. Black Dog… What a riff !!! Stairway To Heaven shows Page’s genius and frustrates guitar shop owners the world over. This album is perfect for every mood. Especially a ‘rock the hell out’ mood. It makes me feel like my hair isn’t long enough! Props to Bonham for the drums on this record, he created one of the world’s most sampled beats with ‘When The Levee Breaks’. Amazing what can happen in an old stairwell, with one microphone and the world’s best rock drummer!”
