Disco Don Calvin Harris gave us the low down on his nerves and anticipation ahead of his mainstage set at Creamfields.
The Scots electro powerhouse has been hidden away recently perfecting his live show and revealed the inspiration behind bringing extra funk into his show are fellow headliners Basement Jaxx and dance music veterans Groove Armada.
Calvin, 25, was in a characteristically modest mood about the reception his new number one album Ready For The Weekend has received and said playing the festivals is the best way to get people listening to his music.
Speaking from his beat-making London lair Calvin said: “I can’t wait to get up to Creamfields tomorrow.
“I’ve put a lot of effort into my live show because I know the people at Creamfields don’t mess around.
“I’m going to dance it up for them, with some extra ravey sub bass for the crowd.
“Hopefully it will go off. Creamfields is the mecca for dance music and I’m really excited.
“I’m bringing some extra live elements with my band.
“Playing live is an exciting challenge. I’m aspiring to be as good as Groove Armada and Basement Jaxx.
“Been talking to the Jaxx about it and they’re always very charming and supportive.
“Playing the festivals is the best for getting people to hear my new music.
“On the whole I haven’t had a bad comment about the new album.
“You Used To Hold Me goes off the most and I’m Not Alone is big too.
“I tend to finish with Flashback, which is the next single at the moment and the crowds have been giving good feedback on that too.”
Calvin also said he’s looking forward to hooking up with his Holiday pal Dizzee Rascal and said it was up to the Bonkers rapper whether they played together after Creamfields fans voted overwhelmingly in favour of them teaming up on stage.
He added: “It’s gonna be great to catch up with Dizzee.
“I don’t get to see him much.
“We tend to bump into each other a bit on the festie circuit and maybe we will have a chance to hang together.
“I know people want us to perform Holiday together but the decision is really down to Diz.
“He’s got some explosive surprises planned for his show.
“I’m up for it – so lets see if we can make it happen.”
