In anticipation of their forthcoming new album set for release on 7th April, Belgian electronic outfit GOOSE unveil a new single ‘Call Me’, set for release via Believe Digital and Safari Records on 24 March 2017.
The new cut is the follow up to the recently released single and album title track ‘What You Need’, which saw support from the likes of The Independent, i-D and Love Magazine. A sultry and emotional affair bolstered by singer Mickael Karkousse’s vocals and lyrics which deal with loneliness, isolation and regret, the synth-rich production is layered by the sophisticated instrumentation created by guitarist Dave Martijn, bassist Tom Coghe and drummer Bert Libeert.

Having recently won the prestigious Music Industry Award for ‘Best Act’, the band went to win the 3rd position for both ‘Best Album’ and ‘Best Live Act’ at the prestigious Red Bull ‘Elektropedia Awards’. Their explosive live energy has been captured by Red Bull for an exclusive live video featuring ‘Call Me’, shot during their sold out show at Lotto Arena in Antwerp. “It’s about bridging the gap between the stage and the crow,” explains GOOSE, who will take their hands-in-the-air, eyes-closed, edge-of-control live show to London at Camden Assembly on 13th April, presented by Metropolis Music and Clash Magazine.
Touching on a number of influences – ranging from EBM influenced-vocals to indie-rock – GOOSE music shows a strong dichotomy perfectly described by Dummy as ‘combining rock dynamics with electronics’. After having been at the fore front of the Flemish electronic music scene alongside Soulwax, Aeroplane and The Magician, GOOSE became the band to embody Belgian’s unique brand of dance music for post-new wavers. Their memorable live performances at legendary Pukkelpop, Warehouse Project and I Love Techno festivals, have established GOOSE as a formidable and renowned international live act.
The band’s multidisciplinary work comprise prestigious collaborations including the creation of a magazine with De Morgen newspaper featuring and peers including Soulwax, Raf Simons and Pink Floyd’s sleeve artist Storm Thorgerson. DE/RE CONSTRUCTION, a multimedia installation constructed with Willy Vanderperre, remixes for top artists such Daft Punk and White Lies. GOOSE involvement with the avant-garde Belgian fashion scene can be traced back to Mickael Karkousse appearance as one of the youngest street cast faces designer Raf Simons has ever used, the singer debuted in his iconic Radioactivity show of A/W 98-99 featuring Kraftwerk.
This fertile environment has led the band to a long-term visual collaboration with cult fashion photographer, Raf Simons and Dior collaborator Willy Vanderperre, which culminated with the creation of a short film to mark the release of their upcoming album, with cinematography from Stanley Kubrick’s favourite Larry Smith.
Since their inception in the international music scene, the band has been praised for their acclaimed albums; the NME-approved debut ‘Bring It On’ through Fatboy Slim’s Skint Records, the two-time Music Industry Awards winner, sophomore album ‘Synrise’, through seminal Berlin label !K7 and The Guardian-approved latest ‘Control Control Control’. Their new album ‘What You Need’, recorded in LA with Ariel Pink, Air and Beck writer and arranger Jason Falkner, went straight to number one in Belgium.
‘Call Me’ euphoric chorus makes the single GOOSE most seductive offering yet – With remixes from fellow Belgian wonderkind house producer Compuphonic, Sebastien Tellier and Stromae drummer Simon Le Saint and electro-disco genius Blende – the track is set to cement their status in the international music scene.
