Archivist have revealed the video for ‘Everything Is Wanted’, the lead single from London’s electro-indie experimentalists’ forthcoming EP ‘Memo’ due for release on October 28th.
It premiered with Clash who said, “… with a pop edge, the band’s music – impeccable electronics, divine songwriting – seems to occupy a universe of its own… Beautifully shot, the clip nimbly expands on the emotive, engrossing songwriting of Archivist.”
The video pictures Archivist frontman Ed Begley on a contemplative journey through London’s White City and Bracknell forest, striding amongst the pensive themes and synth-scape of ‘Everything Is Wanted’.
‘Everything Is Wanted’ has received early BBC 6Music plays, with Don Letts and Tom Robinson proving to be big champions of the band. The single is also supported by BBC Introducing and is receiving spins on Virgin Radio and Amazing Radio too.
The Memo EP incorporates elements of far-flung electronica, indie flair and carefully crafted nods to pop expertly combined to mesmeric effect. ‘Obsidian’ is a dark pulsating indie-rock creeper, while ‘Same High’ is a charmingly intimate experience with beautiful falsetto melodies and spaced-out 80’s synths. ‘Wild Hope’ closes the EP with a grimey experience of off-kilter electronic beats and warped synthesisers, more akin to early Aphex Twin – almost certainly destined to soundtrack the twisted end to an independent movie.
To celebrate the release of the Memo EP, Archivist will be playing a special headline show in the stunning surrounds of London’s St. Pancras Old Church on November 7th.
