From a city that carries the weight of the biggest pop music phenomenon the world has ever known, a group of musical dissidents have combined under the banner of Antipop.

With a strict DIY ethic and independent stance, the movement has grown out of a new generation of bands, a blighted and scarred group of rebels melded from Liverpool’s emerging underground scene.

A new energy can be found in the pick of the Liverpool alternative music groups, Fraktures, The Dead Class, The Temps, Metro Manila Aide and The Drellas.

The Drellas, including million selling former Space songwriter Tommy Scott, are a new sonic breed. Disillusioned by the trappings of commercial success Tommy has spent the past four years rediscovering his passion for music.

Collaborating with cutting-edge musicians The Drellas has taken him in a very different direction.

Tommy Scott, “I’ve never felt so excited about music. I can finally hear the sounds I’ve always craved.”

Faster, darker, more aggressive, lyrically provocative and unerring, the new songs give the listener insight into Tommy Scott’s quirky and sometimes warped view on everyday life.

The ethos of Antipop is as important as the music, ‘more than a record label’ Antipop is a musical tonic.

The first UK tour takes place this October, the much-lauded label launch was the highlight of the opening of Liverpool Sound City 2009.

The Drellas and The Dead Class join various like-minded local supports to profile of one of the most exciting new alternative labels in the UK.
