‘Desert Sun’ is the latest single from new musician/producer from Toronto, Canada, Andrew Oliver.
The track begins with loud organ chords, and then the upbeat percussion and folky guitar tones begin before Oliver’s voice leads the tune. The song has a very mellow vibe, but keeps along with the good pace.
Undoubtedly, ‘Desert Sun’ is perfect for a lazy summers day.
Speaking with Oliver about the track, he explained: “I wrote ‘Desert Sun’ in September. I had just graduated from school in Canada and had no clue what I wanted to do next. So I decided to take a trip to California and stay on an air mattress in my friend’s apartment.”
The Rock and Roll artist spoke about what inspired the song too after arriving in California: “We spent a lot of time listening to Beach House’s first record, and The Eagles “Live” album. I wanted to make a track which merged Beach House’s organ and drum machine instrumentation, with the acoustic, west coast vibe of the Eagles.”
The lyrics talk about love, travelling and sunsets as Oliver goes on to explain, “I made the beat first in [my friend’s] apartment, then walked around Venice Beach for a couple days writing the lyrics. The lyrics served to romanticize that environment.”
The track was released January 16th of this year and is the second single off Andrew Oliver’s debut EP “Lazy Bones” which is set to be released early February.
