Irish rock legends Thin Lizzy strolled into Wolverhampton Civic Hall on Friday night to a virtually full house as part of their aptly named “Boys Are Back On Tour” tour.

Bolstered by an incredible set list which spanned the best of the 30 year Lizzy back catalogues, Thin Lizzy sounded as relevant and fresh for these times as they did back in their heyday.

The current line up fronted by The Almighty’s Ricky Warwick together with three of the original band members in tow, opened the performance with a pyro backed “Are You Ready” and then launched right into the phenomenal “Jailbreak” which got the leather clad Black Country audience going wild.

It will come as little surprise that the pinnacle of the evening was “The Boys Are Back In Time” which closed the main part of the set before a three song encore and a heartfelt “thank-ye-very-much”.

Any doubters who may have feared the new lineup was little more than a well credentialed tribute act, were put firmly in their place as Thin Lizzy played to perfection 90 minutes of pure rock gold.

An almighty support for the evening was provided by openers Triggerfinger followed by Clutch.
