The Maccabees announce split – read their statement

English indie-rock group The Maccabees have announced that they’ve decided to call it a day and split up.

They formed in London back in 2004, four albums were released, entitled Colour It In (2007), Wall Of Arms (2009), Given to the Wild (2012) and Marks to Prove It (2015) with Given to the Wild being their most successful record.

Their most recent festival appearance was at the Latitude Festival back in July.

The band posted a statement to Facebook and Twitter, they said of their split: “There have not been fallings out and we are grateful to say that we are not leaving the group as a dividing force”.

The group also state that the members will “continue making music” and promise farewell shows for later in the year.
