Tame Impala, riding high off the success of their most recent record ‘Currents’ rolled in to town last night to play the Liverpool Olympia.

The criminally underused venue which is usually more used to hosting boxing events played host to what some have described as gig of the year so far in the city.

The set which lent heavily on the newest record also included songs from their previous albums, ‘Innerpseaker’ and ‘Lonerism’.

Anticipation was building from the minute that the doors opened at 6.30 and the band did not disappoint.

Backed by an amazing psychedelic light show and graphics the band launched in to their set with ‘Let it Happen’ and the crowd went wild. The other stand out track included probably their biggest hit to date ‘Elephant’ which had the standing crowd going ballistic and those in the balcony seated up on their feet and dancing away.

Lead singer Kevin Parker was vocal throughout and spoke to the crowd about how ‘it was there first time in Liverpool but it wont be there last’.

The crowd high off the back of a superb performance will be keeping their fingers crossed that they return as soon as possible.
