Metal giants Slipknot tore up the stage in Manchester on the first stop of their UK tour last night – with Behemoth opening the show – a fitting warning for the fans about what was to come.

Slipknot put on a mammoth performance, from the incredible stage set up and lighting – to the blaze your eyelids off pyrotechnics – which all added to a suitable Psychosocial immersive experience.

The show featured the first time that the We Are Not Your Kind bangers, Solway Firth and Birth of the Cruel were performed on British soil. Giving the audience exactly what they wanted.

Opening with Unsainted, one of the singles from WANYK, they had the audience going wild at the second they were all on stage.

We Are Not Your Kind, released in August hit number one on the UK album charts, beating Ed Sheeran to the top.

The setlist was an amalgamation of fan favourites, with Wait and Bleed hitting the spot that was missed during their performance at Download last year. The concrete execution proved to fans that the Iowa legends have still got what it takes to put on a show that will have people buzzed for hours after.

Anthemic tunes Psychosocial and Duality made the crowd go wild, with majority of the arena singing along with frontman, Corey Taylor.

The arena was nearly full with Slipknot fans alike, the standing crowd going wild with mosh pits and jumping throughout the gig.

Taylor thanked the crowd for being a family and supporting the band, commenting on how the UK is one of their favourite places to visit on tour.

Although the show went down a treat, some may have been disappointed with the lack of iconic encore song Spit It Out, as the band closed with Surfacing instead, with Taylor describing it as the fan’s “national anthem”.

The tour continues over the next two weeks, concluding in London on the 25th before the European leg of the tour starts.
