Brooklyn four-piece The Drums gave the Liverpool O2 Academy crowd a good ear bashing for their Liverpool Music Week appearance last night.
The punters all made a sterling effort to make it into the gig despite the torrential downpour outside, many of whom ran in off the street like drowned rats, but all remained in high spirits to see the New York upstarts.
The band dazzled on stage, doing their best Ian Curtis impressions and generally dancing the night away to the sound of their debut album.
Songs such as Forever And Ever Amen, Let’s go Surfing and Best Friend went down a storm with the crowd who sang back every word fanatically.
Lead singer Jonathan Pierce took a moment to stress the true meaning of his songs and cajole the euphoric crowd saying: “These songs are about having fun, which is the only thing that matters.”
