Lana Del Rey continues her nostalgic journey through vintage americana inside a musical soft core mustang that is her fifth studio album ‘’Lust for Life’’, a record which fits well as a follow up to her 2015 release ‘’Honeymoon’’ however it might take some fans by surprise as she experiments with more contemporary vision.

The project consists of sixteen tracks with features from artists such as The Weekend, A$AP mob’s own A$AP Rocky and Playboi Carti as well as legendary singer Stevie Nicks, most notably recognised from her work in Fleetwood Mac.

This line-up presents a generational contrast that the album implements as Lana brings her long time influences as well as modern associated artists, helping her to put a modern twist on the 1950-60’s aesthetic clearly used on previous albums.

Southern hip hop/ trap influences can be heard throughout the album however they occasionally feel unnecessary or excessive adding additional layers to already satisfying tracks as heard on the track ‘’White Mustang’’.

Some tracks also feel out of place for the record, most notably ‘’Groupie Love’’ featuring A$AP Rocky which personally would fit more into her previous release ‘’Ultraviolence’’ however it doesn’t ruin the record and is still a great addition.

Lust for Life’s album cover also tells a story in itself with Lana’s confirmation of fan theories regarding her facial expression and cars included on the covers. Her latest album is the first release in which she is notably smiling signifying good times in her life which are partly reflected on this record.

Overall the record is a worthy addition to Lana Del Rey’s discography, steering the wheel into a new direction of modernised blend of vintage influences which could pave the way for Lana to expand into new musical territory giving her a chance to take us for a ride again and again.

Lana Del Rey has also announced two more UK shows in Liverpool and Glasgow following her sold out surprise gig at o2 academy Brixton, London to promote her new studio album ‘’Lust for Life’’

The shows will be held in both Liverpool at the Echo Arena on Tuesday, 22nd of August and in Glasgow at the SSE Hydro the following day.

General sale will be available for the rest of the public from the 31st of July at 9am.
