It was an extraordinary night of female fronted heavy rock as Grammy award winners Evanescence rolled into town.

Evanescence began their set with What You Want, the first track to be released from their new self titled album.

From the off it was clear that they were going to ensure the last night of this UK tour was going to be one to remember and Amy Lee bounded onto the stage and belted out the vocals as if her life depended on it.

Evanescence delivered a superb mix of old and new songs throughout their 90 minute set. The stage production was impressive without overshadowing the incredible musical talents of this band and all things considered it is surprising to find them playing academies still when all signs point to them being able to effortlessly fill arenas.

The main part of the set concluded with the epic Bring Me To Life before a short break and a phenomenal encore of Never Go Back, Your Star and My Immortal.

Earlier in the night support band The Pretty Reckless did a fabulous job of warming the crowd up for the main act.

The controversial Taylor Momsen dressed in little more than a Guns and Roses T-Shirt, suspenders and knee high goth boots strutted and slithered provocatively and sleazily, yet it wasn’t just style over substance as the girl demonstrated through her ferocious gravelly rock voice that never faltered.

As expected, the well known songs like Make Me Wanna Die and Miss Nothing got the biggest reaction but perhaps the most pleasant surprise of the night was their cover of Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes which more than did the original justice, it may well have trumped it.
