We are excited to announce the first wave of acts for the Penny Lane Weekender including Liverpool-based The DSM IV,  fronted by former Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster singer Guy McKnight. We are looking forward to hearing them play songs from their latest release Negative Utopia with what is sure to be an unmissable performance.

We are also stoked to confirm that Japanese psych rock band QUJAKU shall be playing. The experimental four piece have toured Europe extensively and returned in 2024 with single Ruiteggaakupanshi on the So I Buried Records label. This is their first time visiting Liverpool, with the festival a fitting debut for the Hamamatsu outfit.

Created in 2023 by Liverpool Post Punk band Pleasure Island, the festival is taking place across four venues, Foghertys, Tavern Co, Penny Lane Wine Bar and Dovedale Towers from the 8th – 10th of August, located on and around Liverpool’s iconic Penny Lane.

The full list of first release artists are

PLEASURE ISLAND · TEPID DAYS · EDGAR JONES · BONES · THE FROOBZ · PVC · BLOODWORM · THE DSM IV · DISCO IN SOCHI · CHEERY · EVIL PINK MACHINE · THE DIRT · BLACK BORDELLO · YASWADAH · FALSE THOUGHTS · THIRST · QUJAKU (JP) · HELEN MAW · MODERN MARRIAGE · AUSTERITY DOGS · ZARA SMILE · COW

This grassroots festival gives the opportunity for Liverpool bands and independent acts from further afield to showcase their talents to the local community of Penny Lane and the surrounding areas.

First Release tickets are priced at just £10 and available from See Tickets
