Casino movies are brilliant due to the variance of storyline. They can focus on the mob who used to run Vegas, the little guy sticking it to the man, or the brazen inside job.

It is a fantastic genre and one that never fails to disappoint the fans.Below are the three quintessential casino moies for you to watch.

Casino (1995)

There is no other place to start. Casino is everything you could ask for. With Martin Scorsese in the director’s chair and Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, and Sharon Stone the other side of the camera, it was always a film destined for great things.

The film weaves fictional elements into the true story of mob-owned Las Vegas in the 1970s. Ace Rothstein (De Niro) is instilled as the boss of the Tangiers Casino by the Chicago Mob, a role in which he flourishes.

Greater success entails greater risk, so the Mob send down Nicky Santoro (Pesci) – based on Anthony Spilotro – to provide further protection for Rothstein.

Santoro turns out to be a volatile liability, getting himself banned from every casino and starting an affair with Rothstein’s wife, Ginger (Stone). Unsurprisingly, this criminal empire collapses under the duress of an FBI investigation.

From here it is operation clean up for the Mob, eliminating anyone who could possibly talk.As you would expect with any Scorsese film, the camera work is second to none, the plot is solid and moves at a good pace, the level of realism is extremely high, thanks to the little deviation from the true story, and the acting is phenomenal.

There is no gambling-related film that can stand up to Casino, it is superb. Ocean’s Eleven (2001)

Everyone loves a good heist movie. That is, of course, if you do not like your nails all that much. Ocean’s Eleven follows the age-old heist movie formula.

It has tension, vengeance, excitement, and a huge amount of money. The plan is to simultaneously rob the MGM Grand, the Bellagio and the Mirage, who are all under the ownership of Terry Benedict, to the tune of $150 million.

The Bellagio never has any luck. Besides this fictional robbery, they have been stolen from at least twice in the past 15 years. Like any heist film, the plan doesn’t go as expected.

You are peeking through your fingers, willing Danny Ocean to get out of their alive.Casts do not come more star-studded than this.

George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, Andy Garcia, Don Cheadle, Bernie Mac and Casey Affleck are just a few of the names involved. The amount of Academy Awards and Sexiest Man awards this cast has is simply dumb founding.

Croupier (1998)

While it may not be one of the most commonly known films in the world, Croupier
is most definitely worth watching.English actor Clive Owen is the biggest name in the film, but that does not matter when you have a 98% fresh rating with Rotten Tomatoes.

This neo-noir movie is incredibly smart, keeping you guessing with every turn. Jack (Owen) is a failed writer who goes to work as a croupier for a casino after his father pulls some strings.

Whilst working in the casino, he starts work on a new piece. This is a piece based on his own experiences.

He then agrees to be an inside man for an upcoming robbery. But all is not what it seems. That is what makes the film so good.
