It’s safe to say, I have been waiting for this movie for the last fourteen years. Fourteen years?! That’s just insane! I was a huge fan of the first Jurassic Park movie, and its sequels.
The first film actually came out the year I was born, which I think makes me love it even more. Even now, I think the special effects in it are just amazing. It was years ahead of its time and Michael Crichton’s novel was brought to life brilliantly.
I can’t believe it’s been fourteen years since Jurassic Park 3 came out. But after over a decade of development-hell, dinosaurs are finally back on our screens, and they’re better than ever! It took a long time for the developers to create Jurassic World.
They re-wrote the script countless times as they were never quite happy with it. A fourth instalment in the series was actually due to come out in 2005. It’s hard to believe we’re now a whole ten years later.
I felt like a kid again going to watch this film. I was so excited, and when the classic soundtrack started playing I was just completely hooked. The film is set 22 years after the events of Jurassic Park. Isla Nublar is now home to Jurassic World, a dinosaur theme-park with state-of-the-art facilities.
I absolutely loved all the tiny details and how the park was depicted. It was just what you’d expect if you were to go to Disney World or Sea World – clearly a lot of research went into making it as authentic as possible. As with any theme-park, the owners are always looking for the next big attraction.
One part of the film I hadn’t been sure about from the trailer were the raptors and Chris Pratt’s character seemingly training them. However, having now watched the film, I think they portrayed this really well. Yes, his character does have a bond with the raptors based on mutual respect, but they are still very much the raptors we know and love from the first film; fast, clever and deadly.
The main bad-dino on the scene is now the Indominus Rex; a genetic hybrid created by the park to bring in new visitors. Things of course don’t exactly go to plan though when the Indominus is suspected of escaping it’s enclosure.
I absolutely loved watching this film. It was non-stop action and really captured the heart of the very first movie all those years ago. The cast were all brilliant and I would definitely go and see it again. It was one of those films that feels like it goes on forever, but in a good way.
Jurassic World surpassed Harry Potter and The Avengers to become the highest grossing opening film of all time! Which I think shows that everyone’s a kid at heart when it comes to dinosaurs.
If you haven’t seen it yet, you really need to.
