2015 is looking to be a good year for action and sci-fi fans with a bunch of big budget block buster films on their way.
There’s also some quality indie flicks and steamy romances to keep you entertained over the next twelve months.

January
The Woman in Black 2 Angles of Death
Released January 2nd
This second instalment of the popular thriller is set during World War II, 40 years after Daniel Radcliffe’s ordeal.
We now see the haunted house occupied by evacuated children and their school teachers Eve Parkins (Phoebe Fox) and Jean Hogg (Helen McCrory), but they soon discover they are not alone.
The evil spirit of the Woman in Black is back and more disturbing than ever.
February
Fifty Shades of Grey
Released February 13th
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Christian Grey is hitting the big screen, played by the gorgeous Jamie Dornan.
The film adaptation of the best-selling book has been eagerly awaited by women around the world and its set to be one of the most popular film of 2015.
Treat yourself and watch as the unlikely romance of 21 year old journalist, Anastasia, and 27 year old business man, Christian Grey, blossoms.
March
Cinderella
Released March 13th
Cate Blanchett, Richard Madden and Helena Bonham Carter star in the reimagining of the classic 1950s Disney fairy tale, Cinderella.
With the brilliant Kenneth Branagh at the helm it looks set to be a visual delight that is as magical as the original.
April
Rock the Kasbah
Released April 24th
When a burned out music manager finds himself abandoned, broke and without his passport in Afghanistan, he discovers a young girl with an extraordinary voice.
She stows away with him back to Kabul to compete on the popular television show, the “Afghan Star,” Afghanistan’s equivalent of “American Idol.”
The premise doesn’t sound too strong, but with a cast that includes Bill Murray, Bruce Willis, Kate Hudson and Zooey Deschanel, it could the surprise hit of the summer
May
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Released May 1st
May is going to be an action packed month full of block buster reboots this year as the Avengers team are back and bigger than ever.
The usual Avengers cast are back including Iron Man (Robert Downey Jnr.), Black Widow (Scarlet Johansen) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) are fighting against the evil Ultron who tries to wreak havoc on Earth.
This film is expected to live up to its previous films and is bound to attract plenty of comic book lovers.
It will however, have to compete at the box office against the brilliant Tom Hardy’s Mad Max, which is out May 15th.
June
Jurassic World
Released June 12th
It’s the sequel we’ve been waiting 22 years for.
The Jurassic Park franchise is back, but this time the theme park is in decline.
When a member of Jurassic World’s on-site staff, Owen (Chris Pratt) tries to drum up interest again with a new attraction, things go horribly wrong.
Shot in 3D, Jurassic World could be even more realistic and scarier than the original!
July
Minions
Released July 10th
One for the kids and the adults who are kids at heart.
The minions that were last seen in Despicable Me 2 are back with their own feature length film.
The film sees three of our little yellow friends travel across the world from Antarctica to mod London to
find a new evil master to serve.
It’s in England’s capital that they must go on their biggest adventure yet… to save all of minion kind from annihilation.
August
The Fantastic Four
Released August 7th
This Marvel comic’s contemporary update starring Divergent’s Miles Teller as Mr Fantastic and House of Cards’ Kate Mara as Invisible Woman is a reboot of the 2005 movie of the same name and focuses on the superheroes as young men and women.
There are not many more details about the film yet, but we’re sure it will be up to Marvel Studio’s usual high standards.
September
The Visit
Released September 11th
The legendary director M. Night Shyamalan is bringing us a new horror movie this September called The Visit.
The film follows a brother and sister who are sent to see their grandparents on their remote farm for a week, but this is no ordinary week away.
Once the children discover that the elderly couple is involved in something deeply disturbing, they see their chances of getting back home are growing smaller every day.
October
Frankenstein
Released October 2nd
James McAvoy plays Victor Frankenstein in the sci-fi take of this classic story.
He is joined by an all-star cast that includes Daniel Radcliffe, Andrew Scott and Mark Gatiss.
However it is Daniel Radcliffe that has the most surprising role in the movie as the hunchback monster, Igor who was created during a scientific experiment that went horribly wrong.
It will be interesting to see how the short actor will play the domineering role on screen – we’ll have to wait and see.
November
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2
Released November 20th
Come November the wait will finally be over as the fourth and final instalment of The Hunger Games story hits the big screen.
The film follows Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) as she leads the districts of Panem in a rebellion against the tyrannical and corrupt Capitol.
As the war that will determine the fate of Panem escalates, Katniss must decipher for herself who she can trust and what needs to be done, with everything she cares for in the balance.
There is no doubt that the film will be action packed with lots of tear-jerking moments in between as The Hunger Games reaches its epic conclusion.
December
Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Released December 18th
Nerds rejoice! Star Wars is back with a brand new trilogy set 30 years after Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi.
It even includes some familiar faces including Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford reprising their roles as Princess Leia and Han Solo.
Naturally, the film is shrouded in secrecy, but it is rumoured to be set around the rebuilding of the Republic.
Director JJ Abrams has some big boots to fill as creator George Lucas is retiring, but don’t worry, he’s still acting as a creative consultant on the film.
This short list is only the pinnacle of the amount of great films to see in the coming year.
You best buy a cinema pass now to get in there with all the non-stop-action-packed-romance-fuelled-horror-fantastic films coming in 2015!
