If you’re feeling stuck in a rut and think you need a change in direction, then we can’t recommend trying Birkram Yoga strongly enough.

You may have heard lots of stories about the immense heat and that it is more than a challenge for anybody just to stay in the hot room for 90 minutes.

And you may want to curse my name with a barrage of expletives when you reach the 60 minute wall of usual yoga practice time and scream inside: “Why I am doing this to myself?!!”

But fear not. Just 30 minutes later, I can guarantee a blissful feeling of happiness will take hold of your being and an overwhelming eagerness to face the day and whatever challenges and joys it may hold.

As a yoga teacher with more than 10 years of practice, I am always looking for ways to expand, develop and deepen my understanding of yoga.

Realising the need for balance and to embrace every moment of the day. I would definitely recommend Bikram yoga as a new discipline to add to the mix of your mindful living.

The practice of Bikram follows a series of 26 postures, which are uniquely designed to have an holistic effect on the body and mind.

Detoxification, rebuilding, and balance are the three of the main benefits you will experience during a 30 day challenge, which is recommended for all.

The heat has to be experienced to be understood… but you will learn to embrace the high temperatures for the unique work out it’s giving you and smile at the shadow of perspiration your camel pose casts over your towel.

You will slink this sweat drenched trophy over your shoulder as you leave the hot room and feel the benefits of releasing toxins and super charging your body. Also as a result, you will drink more water before practice and throughout each day.

Physically your body changes, becoming stronger, more defined and flexible. This goes for the mind too.

It is an experience you start to look forward to, waking up at ridiculously early hours to ensure you get those 26 postures into your day.

From the moment you enter the studio with the smell of nag champna soothing your senses, smiley and helpful reception staff will welcome you.

Each teacher brings their individual flair to the set Bikram practice.

It is a treat for all who embrace the practice. Great additions to the studio are their lunchtime “Evolve” class, bring something extra in just 60 mins.

Ashantaga, hatha, yin and chanting – all give you a spring in your step, much preferred than the food coma you may often experience, when eating lunch at your desk.

Try it, become the person you want to be, now is the time.
