Returning to the Liverpool Epstein Theatre next week, West End star Daniel Taylor will recreate the life of a nationally renowned comedian in The Tommy Cooper Show.
The Liverpool-based comedian will take to the stage to stand in the place of Tommy Cooper who is a star amongst comedians, but is more famously known for his red-faced acts and his red fez.
Hailed as “breathtaking” by the British Theatre Guide, just like that Daniel will bring his hilarious comedy show for six days and it will allow fans of Tommy Cooper to reminisce and celebrate his legendarily silly humour.
After Cooper’s unfortunate death live on stage at Her Majesty’s Theatre in 1984, endless acts have tried to relive the comedian’s magic, entertainment and great wit.
Daniel, however, is a critically acclaimed actor who began in Theatre Clwyd’s Youth Theatre School where his passion evolved and has now become a national phenomenon.
Speaking to Daniel, he said: “I’d always done impressions as a kid and loved Tommy Cooper.
“I was always inspired by Peter Rowes work as I found his work as a director very engaging.”
Promising to deliver a show of laughter, family fun and good old fashioned magic and comedy, Daniel is looking forward to come home and perform the show to a wonderful Liverpool audience having already toured the country.
Daniel added: “I’d always wanted to play Tommy Cooper, and I mentioned it to a pal of mine who wrote an original draft of a play and it went from there.
“It’s a challenge to fill the size 14’s of such a legend. When you are playing somebody who existed and was known to millions it is essential to do your homework to ensure as an actor I bring as much of the real Tommy Cooper to the stage as possible.”
Daniel’s sensational five-star performance will surely be a celebration of Tommy Cooper’s journey from a nowhere man to comic icon.
Daniel added: “It is a respectful insight into the personal and professional life of Tommy Cooper.”
