The Only Way is Essex stars Amy Childs and Harry Derbridge will be swapping Brentwood for St Helens Theatre Royal where they will appear in Aladdin from 3rd December – 8th January 2017.Glamorous redhead Amy will star as the Slave of the Ring in the family-friendly pantomime while cousin and co-star Harry will play the cheeky PC Noodle.
Behind the scenes, Purple Revolver captures a sneak preview of the panto and catch up with Amy and Harry to get the low-down on their new and exciting venture:
Rebecca: “Welcome to Liverpool! How are you both feeling about being on the stage?”
Amy: “Oh my god I can’t wait to come to St. Helens and be in panto. My costume is so amazing! I love a new challenge so bring it on!”
Harry: “I am so excited to be involved with the panto at St Helens Theatre as PC Noodle! It is going to be so amazing! I’ve told all my mates back at the Sugarhut and they’re all well jel!”
Rebecca: How are you feeling about the rehearsals? Has it started yet?
Amy: “We’ve not started rehearsals yet – we have done a little bit this morning with a little part of the script. We got our scripts yesterday so we start the rehearsals on the 21st November and we’ll be back to back for two weeks. We’re excited aren’t we really?”
Harry: “It is exciting, it’s nice that we can do this together as well because we’re cousins so it’s nice that we can spend two months together.”
Amy: “We spend all our time together anyway – on Fridays and weekends we’re always together!”
Are you enjoying Liverpool?
Amy: “Harry loves Liverpool”
Harry: “Liverpool’s very similar to Essex in its way. I love the people in Liverpool – everybody’s very chatty and friendly and of course, the women are all so glam! So yes, I love Liverpool.”
Rebecca: Where will you be staying while rehearsing and performing?
Amy: “We’ll of course be staying in Liverpool – we won’t be able to get back to Essex much! We’re staying in St Helens close to the theatre.”
Rebecca: Do you have any plans post-panto?
Amy: “A holiday! Me and Harry love going on holiday so we’ll just have a nice chill – we won’t have too much time between shows so we’ll be going away. We’ve got our fashion lines to run as well – Harry’s got his sunglasses range so we’ll need to spend some time on that after the shows.”
Rebecca: Have you got any tips for Amy as this is her first panto?
Harry: “She’s a natural – we get to play ourselves as well so we can’t really go wrong there! But obviously, we need to play up to playing ourselves”
Amy: “We’re not really like this! *laughs*”
Rebecca: How are you feeling about the panto? Any nerves creeping up?
Amy: “Yes”
Harry: “We were a little bit nervous before but I think once you get half way through the show, it just comes naturally.”
Amy: “If you come to see the show, make sure you come to see a middle one when we’ve got into it and know all our lines!”
Harry: “First show we might mess up a little bit..”
Amy: “I mean, it’s Christmas time so everyone should be in a good mood I hope!”
Rebecca: It sounds very exciting – good luck to you both!
