Here are some of the main talking points from in this edition of The Week in Gaming.
Monday 2nd November
Warner Bros. are continuing to address and correct the on-going performance issues that have plagued Batman: Arkham Knight on PC since release. In an effort to appease fans the company are offering full refunds to those who purchased a copy, regardless of how much they have played the game.
The official statement also includes the Season Pass which can also be returned, “along with the main game (but not separately). For those of you that hold onto the game, we are going to continue to address the issues that we can fix and talk to you about the issues that we cannot fix.”
Tuesday 3rd November
Epic Games has revealed Paragon, a new PC game set for sometime in 2016. Details are scarce other than it will contain different ‘heroes’, each being revealed weekly up until 3rd December. Several websites are reporting the game may be a MOBA or at the very least a shooter hybrid of the genre.
Wednesday 4th November
Despite previous suggestions of support Konami has confirmed the closure of the LA studio responsible for Metal Gear Online. In a statement, issued to Polygon, Konami said Metal Gear Solid V and Online will launch on PC, thought no date has been given.
Square Enix has launched a new Twitter poll to ask fans if Moogles should feature in Final Fantasy XV. Tetsuya Nomura, series developer, previously revealed the race of small helpers were originally set to appear in the game however plans changed to cut them from final production.
Thursday 5th November
Similar to the Darth Maul solo game, gameplay footage of another cancelled Star Wars title has emerged.
According to reports from Kotaku and GamesRadar the game, entitled Star Wars: First Assault, was conceived as a downloadable Xbox 360 and PS3 title. The project was terminated in 2012 by Disney/LucasArts but interestingly the game may have been the beginning of a complete Star Wars Battlefront 3.
The Old Hunters, the highly anticipated Bloodborne expansion, will be available 24th November. Furthermore the game will also receive a new patch, adding new content to the main campaign including; a new series of NPC hunters called The League. Essentially The League is a covenant that assists one another. This new guild introduces a new weapon, the League Cane, giving the player the ability to summon NPCs for aid during a quest.
Friday 6th November
Take-Two Interactive has revealed Battleborn, Gearbox’s upcoming competitive first-person shooter, is to be delayed until 3rd May 2016. The game was originally aiming for release a 9th February 2016 on PS4, Xbox One and PC. In other Take-Two news the publisher has closed 2K China and cancelled Borderlands Online, the free-to-play offshoot of the main series, set for China.
Overwatch, Blizzard’s team-based shooter, is to be released on consoles. Now called Overwatch: Origins the game is slated for Spring 2016 to be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC. As it is a console edition the price is currently unknown, previously Blizzard announced it will become free-to-play.
