Reality TV sweethearts Philip Taylor and Kate Walsh are engaged after sparks flew between them on The Apprentice.

The couple, who met while undertaking tasks for business mogul Sir Alan, giggled as they picked out a £3,000 sparkler together.

Kate, 27, was then pictured beaming as she left a jeweller’s in London’s Hatton Garden with Phil following.

The couple fell in love during filming of the hit BBC show but split because they lived so far apart.

They rekindled the romance when the series aired and estate agent Phil, 29, now plans to move from Durham to London to househunt with runner-up Kate.

He has already met her parents in Staffordshire and has been “welcomed into the family”.

A pal said: “They are very much in love and this was always more than a work fling. Neither of them wanted to split.

“Once the show aired they were reminded of how well they had got on and Phil picked up the phone.

They were back in each other’s arms within days and now it looks like they will have each other for life. Phil had been known as a womaniser but Kate has ended all that. He loves her to bits and is smitten.”

Phil was told “You’re fired!” by Sir Alan after his team lost a task to pick inventions then sell to shops. Licensing development manager Kate came runner-up to hired Yasmina Siadatan, 27.

Kate has since presented a slot on GMTV about women’s office fashion this summer – with a view to having a regular position on the breakfast show.
