Picture this: you’re hurtling down the slopes, wind in your hair, with snow-covered peaks towering above. But wait – look down, and are you still rocking that baggy, ill-fitting jacket from the 90s?

Let’s face it, a little fashion-forward thinking on the slopes never hurt anyone. Winter sports are about speed – but they’re about style too. Ready to pull off the perfect ski look that’s both warm and eye-catching? Clip in and let’s go.

Choose your base layers wisely

You’ve probably heard that the key to a great ski outfit is layers, but don’t go piling them on like you’re dressing for a blizzard in the Antarctic.

Too many layers will almost certainly have you overheating in a few minutes on the slopes. Base layers are your first line of defence against the cold, and they should be snug without feeling like a second skin. Merino wool is the hero here – it’s breathable, moisture-wicking, and, crucially, doesn’t stink after a long day on the slopes. Say goodbye to that polyester sweat smell.

Opt for modern ski jackets.

Gone are the days of bulky, puffy ski jackets that made you look like a snowman on the move. The best modern ski jackets combine warmth and flexibility without
compromising on style.

Look for something with a flattering cut and features that matter – a good, adjustable hood (because, let’s face it, the weather’s unpredictable), waterproof zippers and
plenty of pockets for snacks and lift passes. Colour is your playground. A bold red or a deep navy is chic without trying too hard, but avoid looking like a Christmas tree. Keep it sleek.

Don’t forget the trousers (yes, really)

Ski pants are often the most overlooked piece of the outfit, but they’re just as important as your jacket. Well-fitted, high-performance ski trousers will keep you
comfortable and warm without restricting movement.

Choose a pair with adjustable waistbands and vents for that sweet spot between warmth and ventilation. If you’re heading for an Andorra ski holiday, remember, you’ll probably be spending more time on the slopes than sipping mulled wine at the chalet, so make sure they offer freedom to move.

Accessories that make a statement

The right accessories can elevate your ski outfit from functional to fabulous. Goggles are a style statement. Go for a sleek, oversized pair with a reflective lens – they’re practical and give you that cool, après-ski vibe. Hats, gloves and scarves are your chance to add pops of colour or texture to your look.

A knitted beanie with a pom-pom is cute, but if you’re feeling daring, try a faux fur-lined headband. Don’t skimp on your gloves either; insulated, waterproof options are a must. Those fingers need to stay warm so you can take photos for the ‘gram.

Don’t forget the après-ski look

Après-ski isn’t just an excuse to drink hot chocolate with Baileys (although that’s a great perk). It’s a golden opportunity to show off a more laid-back version of your ski style.

Layering up with a cosy cashmere sweater, sleek jeans and chic boots will give you a relaxed but elevated après-ski look. The key is balance – stick to simple, timeless
pieces that look great without looking like you’re trying too hard. So, there you have it. The slopes are waiting, and now you’re ready to look as good as you feel.
