Harry Potter star Emma Watson has spoken out against the world of fashion, declaring that it projects an ‘unobtainable image’ for young women to aspire to.

Her position as a Burberry model has in turn encouraged her to voice a strong opinion on issues surrounding women’s body image.

The 23-year-old Noah actress, states that fashion can “project an unobtainable image that’s dangerously unhealthy”.

The Bling Ring star, who reportedly earned a six-figure wage from her Burberry contract, says that big brands are presenting an ideal picture of how girls should look and dress, but a picture which is difficult to achieve, because of their sky high prices.

Ex-Hogwarts student Emma emphasized how much she does not agree with the uses of digital manipulation software such as Photoshop, and how it creates and image of ‘perfection’ that is simply not realistic.

She said: “As a younger woman, that pressure got me down, but I’ve made peace with it.

“With airbrushing and digital manipulation, fashion can be an unobtainable image that’s dangerously unhealthy.

“I’m excited about the ageing process. I’m more interested in women who aren’t perfect. They’re more compelling.”

She then said that she is recognising the pressure to behave and look perfect and is now able to ‘take criticism on the chin a lot more.’
