Many people have developed a bit of a love/hate relationship with Gwyneth Paltrow. While many people like the characters she plays in movies, they think that real life Gwyneth is, well, weird, and borderline unlikeable.

However, if you liked her in the classic “Hard Eight”, or even “Iron Man”, there are a number of reasons to really like her off screen. She may seem odd to some, but she is also fairly down to earth, and “normal”. She may be famous, but she is also just a mom and someone who wants to take care of herself and her family.

She’s a Devoted Mother

In the world of Hollywood, it is easy for anyone to fall in love with the celebrity side of their life, and therefore begin to ignore their family and loved ones, or make decisions that benefit them, but have a negative effect on those around them. This is common when someone gains fame and fortune.

However, Gwyneth has seemingly pushed the fame aside, and is a devoted mother and someone who puts her children first. Yes, this may seem easier as you can argue her career is slowing down and she has a lot more time, but she is still famous, and can easily still take part in the famous life.

There’s also the fact that she has access to multiple nannies and personal chefs, yet chooses to look after her kids herself, cook for them, make sure they are healthy. She barely does movies anymore, but part of that is because she wants to be there for her kids and not just palm them off to someone else.

She’s Genuine

Hollywood has a serious knack of “changing” people, in the sense that who you see in interviews and what not is a persona, and not who that person is back home. Gwyneth, however, doesn’t really change all that much.

She is quite reserved, true to herself, and even though some of the things she does may seem weird to many people (A vagina scented perfume for instance) she doesn’t really push any of her weird and wacky ideas onto anyone, she just shares the benefits she has seen.

Being yourself in an industry that quite literally relies on you being someone else all the time is a bigger task than you might think, but she does it so well, and it most definitely inspirational in a way.

She’s Charitable

Now that we have mentioned the strange perfume choice, many people may be surprised to hear how much charity and giving is attached to the brand. Paltrow uses part of the profits to help fund programs across the United States and the world.

One of the charities is the Edible Schoolyard Project which is a charity designed to get more healthy foods into children’s diets, as well as giving them the skills to produce their own healthy food, and how to make better food choices.

Another is the Pencils of Promise charity, a project whose aim to help create sustainable education communities around the world. She also has another charity that aims to spread the idea of meditation, a practice that when done correctly, can most certainly help you focus, clear your mind, and approach life in a more thoughtful and calm way.

She Cares About Others

She is also a famously devoted friend and just all-round nice person. She isn’t stuck-up and self-absorbed, but she is someone that cares about those around her, as well as the well-being of those that may not have the same privileges as her.

This goes back to her charity work, she doesn’t have a worry in the world, but uses her fame and wealth to help those that don’t have the same opportunities that she has.

She Makes Great Food

Something that maybe isn’t as deep as the rest of the points, but by all accounts, her cooking is amazing. She has a few cookbooks, all packed with recipes that help you eat healthier, but don’t force you to eat kale all day.

Some of the recipes may come across a bit “lifestyles of the rich and famous”, but it is more the fact that instead of sitting back and letting a private chef do all the work, she has taken it upon herself to help others eat better and be healthier.

Gwyneth Paltrow, if anything, is probably very misunderstood. Giving her children strange names, having strange and sometimes off putting health and beauty practices, she comes across weird and possibly preachy.

However, if you view it through the lens of someone who just doesn’t fit in the norm, you will be able to see some benefit in what she does and says. As mentioned already, she doesn’t force anything onto anyone, just opens people up to new ideas.

Whether you love her or hate her, you can’t deny the fact that she is rather unique, hasn’t let fame go to her head, uses her power and wealth to help others, and also uses the attention she has gained to spread knowledge she has about certain things. If anything, she’s just trying to be helpful, and she’s pretty good at doing that.
