Last week the fashion world was sent into a mad frenzy over one of the most hotly anticipated collaborations of the year between Alexander Wang and H&M.

It’s not every day that a world famous designer comes together with a much loved high street store, and this was made clear by the hordes of fans queueing outside H&M in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The New York based designer released a sportswear inspired collection with the versatility that meant it wouldn’t look out of place with a pair of heels on a Saturday night in town.

The 38 piece womenswear collection is unlike anything we’ve seen on the high street before – stylish scuba fit dresses, made from quick drying material enabling you to look fab while working up a sweat.

There’s no doubting that colour scheme wasn’t top priority, with all pieces being black, grey or white which received mixed reviews – some fans were disappointed with the ‘boring’ lack of colour, others found it to be effortlessly chic.

It was inevitable that the line would be a hit, but the demand exceeded expectations with the website crashing 10 minutes before it even went live. Many of the pieces sold out that same day, and were popping up on eBay for double the price by the afternoon.

As seen on Rihanna – who sported the fitted crop top and leggings co-ord – the collection mirrors exactly her style, a laid back cool without even trying.

Leather joggers, patterned jeans and crocodile textured jumper were amongst the first pieces to fly off the shelves.

Alexander Wang stated – “We wanted to take certain elements of each sport and portray the ultimate warrior … the girls had to feel big and heroic.”

Models used to promote the collaboration included Joan Smalls, Raquel Zimmerman, Isabeli Fontana and UK footballer Andy Carroll.
