Meet Coco Reilly, the newest export of east Nashville’s indie rock scene.
The fast rising vocalist / guitarist draws on influences such as Margo Guryan, The Shangri Las and Cut Worms with her fuzzed out, timeless technicolor 60s/70’s dream pop debut sounding like Coco Chanel dancing in a David Lynch technicolor daydream.
Featuring the mind blowing spector-on-acid production courtesy of Philadelphia’s best kept secret, guitarist/producer Jerry Bernhardt and a band that includes Dom Billett on drums, Will Brown on keys and Ian Ferguson on electric guitar. The band’s collective contributions including backing up emerging acts such as Erin Rae, The Kernal, Faye Webster, Caitlin Rose, and Michael Nau.
‘Define You’ is a bittersweet first taste of a great new artist, with Coco Reilly’s sound sure to set the web ablaze within moments of its release.
Of the release Coco Reilly, stated, ““Define You” started as a song for someone else and then halfway through I decided to write it for myself. I thought: “What kind of love song could someone write for me that would really sweep me off my feet?” After experiencing a relationship that contained strong elements of insecurity and jealousy, I was pretty burned out and it made me think: How do I avoid this going forward? What can I learn from it, and how do I make sure I keep my own emotions in check so I never make anyone else feel that way?” I had been trying to cook this complex concept in my head into a simple message that served as a baseline of how I would want to be treated and how I intend to treat someone else. The music in the song matches how I think love should feel. Happy, warm, easy-going and free.
