Through torrents of swaggering rhythm and haughty bass comes the first fruits of a collaboration between acclaimed DJ, producer, composer (etc etc he’s annoyingly multi-talented yawwwn) Mighty Mouse and the lesser known, in the mainstream at least, Nottingham-born singer-songwriter Ronika (born Veronica Sampson).

A pairing of talents from the ‘nu disco’ circuit Ronika and Mighty Mouse have come together in a musical marriage of wondrous proportions for the track, ‘See Through You’, due to be released on 1st December 2014 and available for you listening pleasure on SoundCloud.

Roughly translated into plain old English from cool-hipster-speakish, ‘Nu Disco’ is a 21st century dance music genre associated with a renewed interest in 1970s and early 1980s disco music.

But it’s not as elitist or only for the ‘cool crowd’.

Apparently Daft Punk count as Nu Disco advocates and we all know and like them and their incessantly good throwback tunes.

‘See Through You’ is an accessible and dare-I-say ‘catchy’ song.

Twenty seconds late to the party the bass struts all up and down the track like John Travolta in that white suit swinging a can of paint.

If you don’t get that reference then you need serious help and maybe this song isn’t for you.

Ronika’s vocal is subdued and breathy, she sounds a bit like Gwen Stefani (pre-Hollaback girl; think No Doubt – ‘It’s my life’). In a good way.

Seamlessly layered and gratifyingly groovy ‘See Through You’ goes down as smooth as your fourth Jagerbomb on a Saturday night.

A continuous disco beat plus easy rhythm and a relaxed vocal make for an ambient sound under the power of which involuntary dancing is sure to ensue in the listener.

Give it a listen if you want feverishly silky vibes to make your toes tap. (That’s Saturday Night Fever, see what I did there? No? Okay.)

Ronika’s Marathon is also released in December.
