Lady Gaga has admitted that she is toning down her lifestyle over the next few months because she is terrified of joining the tragic “27 club”.

Claiming drug troubled stars like Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix and more recently Amy Winehouse, Gaga believes the “27 club” curse is very real.

The Bad Romance singer, who admitted to a marijuana addiction last month, vowed to stay off the drugs to make sure she sees her 28th birthday next March.

Gaga wants to change the belief that in showbiz you need to be dead to become a legend. Deeming the attitude “only the good die young” as bad for the music biz.

The singer said: “I want to change this code in the atmosphere that in order to be remembered, I must die young. This is unhealthy.”

A number of websites have appeared online that have predicted an early death for the pop star, but she is determined to prove them all wrong.

In response she said,“I want to live and I want my fans to live. I want to show people that I will last past 27 and I will last longer, and so will you.”

Things are going well for the singer at the moment, so it’s in Gaga’s best interest to look after her health. Not only does she have a new album out next week, but the Poker Faced star is due to appear opposite Miss Piggy in a Muppet holiday special which is due to air in the US over Thanksgiving.
