Having been on the music scene since the age of 16, Holland based singer songwriter Marc Delmay has secured himself a comfortable spot writing and performing catchy pop songs.
His new single Days Of Fun, about his early years on the island of Curaçao in the Dutch Caribbean, is as catchy as it gets. It’s a rhythmic almost spoken word track that flourishes into pure melodic reminiscences.
It’s the simplest of riffs that are the most memorable and Delmay has got this down to a fine art.
Delamy has guitar for several bands and performed on a number of live musicals such as Hair and Jesus Christ Superstar as well briefly shared a stage with Dutch rock band Gold Earring lead singer Barry Hay.
Although virtually unknown in the UK, the recent introduction of independent radio has got the ball rolling for more exposure and the reissue of material from 20 years ago given a modern makeover, is sure to help push him further into the mainstream.
Blow My Mind, a track from earlier in the year, has a slow, meandering, observational style through a 70’s sound that gives a relaxed Sunday morning feel, in contrast to that, there are the uplifting lyrics of Shine On Me that speak of something loving and safe and magical.
Judging by the back catalogue of work that varies from classic guitar ballads to electronic pop, there’s some vintage hits just waiting for a revival as well as more recent 2019 releases. There’s a treasure trove of delights just waiting to be unearthed.
