Rock legends Foo Fighters have promised some “crazy sh-t” to fans waiting to celebrate their 25th anniversary this year.

The Everlong rockers’ celebrations began with frontman Dave Grohl’s birthday on the 14th January… with many of the plans not being announced yet.

The Foos have had four number one albums and 10 albums in the top 10 in the UK and a Facebook and Twitter video has teased a number of possibilities to fans.

With a heartfelt thanks to their fans – the band said: “Thank you guys for being with us year after year…for singing along & making every show the best night of our lives.

“We’re JUST getting started, so buckle up, 2020… it’s going to be an INSANE year full of some seriously crazy shit…’

The band boast many amazing feats in their 25 years, from sold out concerts to platinum albums. But we’ve picked out our top five iconic Foos moments to celebrate their birthday.

5. First GRAMMY win (2001).

Although nominated for GRAMMYs for their first and second album, the band didn’t win until 2000 when they won two! They won Best Rock Album and Best Short Form Music Video for their hit Learn to Fly.

They have since gone on to win nine more GRAMMY awards, and hold the record for the most wins in the Best Rock Album category. Foo Fighters have been nominated for 27 GRAMMYs in their 25 years.

4. Trolling the Westboro Baptist Church.

After finding out that the infamous picketing church group would be protesting outside their show in Kansas City in 2011, they dressed up as hillbillies and put on a show for them. The extremist group were holding up homophobic signs, thinking that the mystery band were there to encourage the protest.

This was until the Foos played Man Muffins, a gay love song. Dave Grohl told the crowd: “”I don’t care if you’re black or white or purple or green, whether you’re Pennsylvanian or Transylvanian, Lady Gaga or Lady Antebellum, it takes all kinds! Men loving women, and women loving men, and men loving men, and women loving women … God bless America!”

The band were targeted by the hate group in summer 2011 when they released the video for Man Muffins.

3. Grohl teamed up with Elvis Costello and Bruce Springsteen.

At the 2003 GRAMMY Awards ceremony, Foo Fighters’ frontman performed with music icons Costello and Springsteen. The three took the stage in Madison Square Garden and performed “London Calling” to pay tribute to Clash frontman, Joe Strummer.

It was also in 2003 that Foo Fighters made their stage debut at the GRAMMYs.

2. Dave’s beer blunder.

Reigning king of clumsiness in the rock world, Grohl fell off stage while downing a fan’s beer. When handed the beer, the frontman tried to chug the can without using his hands, which failed. He then climbed back on the stage before promptly falling back into the security pit.

Fans at the Las Vegas show were probably expecting a similar mishap as the time he broke his leg falling off stage… which takes us to our number one.

1. The show must go on.

The Foo’s lead singer and guitarist stumbled off the stage during their Gothenburg show in 2015. He fell during the second song of the set, exclaiming to the crowd, “I love you – but I think I just broke my leg. I really broke my leg.”

Drummer Taylor Hawkins carried on the show while the frontman has his ankle strapped up, before he returned to the stage… and kept performing. Now that’s a rock n roll attitude.
