The Magic Loungeabout returns for its third year with an inspiring programme of music and arts. The guest orators for the Speaker’s Tent have been revealed.
A place for illuminating chat, in-depth conversation and unexpected tangents; just recall Howard Marks back in 2011 and you kind of know what to expect.
Stuart Maconie is the hugely popular and prolific TV and radio presenter, journalist, columnist and author. He co-hosts the revered Radcliffe and Maconie Show on 6Music every weekday afternoon, and has written and presented dozens of other shows on BBC Radio.
We also have the writer and broadcaster Jon Ronson, man behind influential works including The Men Who Stare At Goats. Hear the story behind his latest book, The Psychopath Test – A journey into the madness industry.
And for something really topical Richard Fox, who is the culinary incarnation of David Blaine. He will teach us how to convert all your food you throw away into culinary masterpeces. In other words, recipes to help you throw away less food.
And finally new for 2012 will be the partnership with Bettakultcha, who will be running a series of 5 minute lighting presentations that inspire, inform and entertain. Presenters talk about their passions—no sales pitches, no theme, no censorship, no limit to the possibilities of performance – apart from 20 slides.
Today we are asking for anyone out there who feels passionate about any subject to write a paragraph of what they would like to talk about and why they should be the chosen one! There are only 8 places, but each speaker will get a free ticket to the event as well as one for a friend… just for 5 minutes of your mind.
Please send your submission to Bettakultcha@gmail.com with Loungeabout in the subject line before the May 31st deadline. To find out more information about the idea, take a look at bettakultcha.com
