A photograph of music legend John Lennon and Marxist revolutionary Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara strumming guitar together has appeared online.
The photograph, allegedly taken in 1966, has been doing the rounds on social networking sites, but has recently been ousted as a fake.
Experts pointed out several descrepnecies in the photo that lead to the image being ousted as a fake.
The real photograph was taken in New York City and is actually dated closer to 1976, nine years after Che Guevara’s death.
It is also known that Lennon didn’t need glasses til 1967 and he cut his hair to that length until 1970.
It is believed that the guitarist on the right is actually Che’s face impressively photoshopped onto Wayne Gabriel’s body. The real photograph is clearly a brighter tone with less contrast.
This just goes to show that even a fake image can speak a thousand words.
