The Vaselines slipped into the Brighton Coalition for a sing song amongst friends and made sure the walls and ceilings were covered in lo-fi rock ectoplasm.
The alt rockers are still in fine fettle, nearly 20 odd years after their conception, captivating a diverse audience long into the night down in the ever-sunny South East England. Their longevity is no fluke.
Francis McKee stole the show though with her sonorous Glaswegian voice flitting in and out of key. She wielding a big old electric guitar around that was nearly as big as her and made it sing.
Kurt Cobain was a huge fan of the band before he bit the proverbial dust in 1999. He covered a number of their songs in his lifetime, including Jesus Doesn’t Want Me For A Sunbeam which featured on the infamous MTV unplugged release.
