If this is but a mere taste of what’s to come on King King’s new album Exile & Grace later in the year, (She Don’t) Gimme No Lovin’ will surely be marked down as haute cuisine by all those who savour rock-solid blues.
Alan Nimmo’s vocal powers are boundless it seems. The tones and range fitting magnificently well with his virtuoso guitar work, both up front during the solo and also laid back during the riffs.
What truly lifts this song though, is its vibrancy through the exceptional work of Bob Fridzema’s keys and the powerhouse drumming of Wayne Proctor, with Lindsay Coulson’s bass driving the whole thing along like a freight train at full steam.
Mixed by Chris Sheldon who has worked with the likes of The Foo Fighters amongst many others, this such an absolute rock-out crowd pleaser, it is going to be an absolute joy to see this performed live in Buckley on July 29, and it is no question at that the Glasgow rockers are being saluted as “the best blues-rock band in the world” right now.
Fantastic stuff!
