At Purple Revolver HQ, we like to bring you music news from the freshest crop of up and coming artists.

We’ve got a quick Q&A today with the Germein Sisters, an Australian girl group who’s debut EP ‘Because You Breathe’ is available right now on iTunes.

PR: Hi Georgia, thank you for taking time today to answer some questions today, I was recently introduced to your music and I’m liking what I hear, I saw that your EP Because You Breathe was recorded with Billy Farrell who’s worked with The Corrs among others, what was it like getting his insight as you recorded the EP?

Georgia: Working with Billy Farrell was an incredible experience. He is not only brilliant at his craft, but also really lovely to work with.

His efficiency and dedication to finding the perfect sound ensured professionalism in every recording, and his ear for vocals in particular was truly exceptional.

I loved Billy’s collaborative approach, and his all round cheerfulness.

PR: Do you have a favourite song from the EP?

Georgia: I love “Da Da Doo” because it seems to make people happy when we play it. It’s simple, catchy, fun to perform, and our audiences enjoy singing along to it.

PR: The songs on the EP are quite powerful, a lot going on within the songs themselves, specifically Golden, a lot of feelings went through my head as I was listening to it, was that the intention?, is that reflective of the lyrics?

Georgia: Golden is a powerful rock song about following your dreams. I was inspired to write it when I was home one night in Australia on our remote bushland property, feeding my pet kangaroos under the stars.

The chorus just came into my head while I was outside, and pretty much straight afterwards I went to my room and added verses and finished the song.

I wanted the song to remind listeners to not hold back from what they want to do in life, or tell anyone that their dreams are impossible to achieve. I believe that if you really want to do something, say something, or go somewhere – with hard work and persistence you’ll get there.

PR: What about some of the other songs on the album?

Georgia: Da Da Doo is a happy summer tune about forgetting your troubles.

First Plane Home is a reflective pop song about making decisions.

We wrote It’s A Shame, with the thought of it being a catchy tune about leaving your haters behind you.

PR: What was it like touring with Brian Kennedy?, must have been a great experience as you’re starting out, humbling to have that early in your career I’m sure?

Georgia: It was a lot of fun touring with Brian Kennedy! He is such a talented artist with incredibly pure and passionate vocals.

Simply getting to hear him play every night was amazing. He is charming, hilarious, and always had great stories to tell.

PR: What are your inspirations when it comes to songwriting?

Georgia: I am inspired to write songs from life experiences. Living on a bushland property in Australia, and growing up in a large family.

I have been fortunate to have done a lot of traveling over the years – not only around the world in my band “Germein Sisters”, but also with charity organisations to Nepal and South Africa.

Traveling certainly has opened by eyes to the wider world and deepened my songwriting themes. I like to write about life, love, and the lessons I have learned and continue to learn every day.

I wrote a the title track “Because You Breathe” for my friend who was struggling with depression, so that I could remind her how special and important she was and continues to be.

PR: Thank you again Georgia for taking part in our Q&A.
