With festivals being a staple of Britain, and Liverpool itself being a cultural beacon and hub for music, we have seen the City play host to Liverpool International Jazz Festival, Sound City, Liverpool International Music Festival and Africa Oye. And come the 28th and 29th May 2016 Bank Holiday weekend, Aintree Racecourse looks set to bring Liverpool the We Luv Festival.

With over thirty acts across two stages, the Family Fun Festivals Company who are behind the event are looking to have a family orientated festival. This includes tickets from £35, and children under 6 being able to attend for free, as well as discounts for students.

Among the acts to descend upon Aintree are UB40, Arrested Development, Sugar Hill Gang, DJ Yoda, Scouting for Girls, Professor Green, Example, Fuse ODG and Reggie and Bollie. Also set to take the stage will be Rebecca Ferguson.

No matter what age, you’d be hard pressed not to know or have an affinity to the British reggae band, UB40 who for over 38 years have given us pop, reggae, dub and ska music.

When it comes to hip hop royalty, Arrested Development are firmly cemented In this category. Hailing from the South in Atlanta, this Alternative hip hop group have been astounding people with their music since the early 90’s since their first release Tennessee.

Their first album 3 Years, 5 Months & 2 Days In the Life Of will forever stand out as a benchmark hip hop, opening up people’s eyes as to what Arrested Development were doing with their music, having a cross-over appeal for that type of hip hop to reach a more larger mainstream crowd. In addition to a new album out this year, from old tracks to new, people will be hard pressed not to see them live.

With Rebecca Ferguson taking to the stage, she will be doing so in her hometown to a backdrop of Aintree Racecourse, in a city which supported one of their own from Liverpool.

These are merely three acts.

Partners to the festival include Alder Hey, LFC Foundation, Claire House, Cash 4 Kids and Everton in Community.

With further names of acts set to be release later, this will surely push Aintree Racecourse as a multi-faceted venue that can hold its own with other musical events.
