Threshold Festival are getting revved up for their 4th annual grass-roots celebration of music,
art and culture, providing Liverpool with three days of entertainment and innovation over 11 of
the most exciting newly developed and underused spaces in the city.
Over the 28th/29th/30th March, the Baltic Triangle will showcase the very best of Liverpool’s
emerging artists, new work, collaboration, DIY, avant garde and community based projects
encompassing music, theatre, film, performance and visual arts.
With a focus on fresh creative talent from around the North-West, Threshold provides an
ideal platform for experimentation, and with this year’s Retro-Futuristic theme, the festival is
keen to get plenty of exciting and up-and-coming acts on board.
With the likes Natalie McCool, Mono LPs, Etches and Dominic Dunn confirmed to play,
anticipation is mounting for the big reveal of the full line-up.
So as not to tease too much, Threshold have announced their opening night headliners, The
Destroyers, a 14-piece “anarchic orchestra” from Birmingham who are sure to set the
standard for the multi-arts affair.
The weekend’s theme of retro-futurism will also radiate through Threshold’s visual arts
offerings. Visions of the future imagined in the 50s and 60s will take on various forms in an
exhibition entitled ‘FUTURE | VISIONS’, housed across the festivals many venues.
2012 Liverpool Art Prize winner and Threshold Festival veteran Robyn Woolston will
return with her powerful large scale installations, photography, moving image and print.
Robyn will be joined by a range of exciting artists, including Baltic Triangle residents as well
as creative minds from further afield, showcasing their art in the ‘FUTURE | VISIONS’
exhibition as well as companion exhibitions “Hello and Goodnight” in partnership with Arena
Gallery and even more delights to be displayed in The Hatch at Hopskotch Liverpool.
All this plus commissioned venue dressing and exciting street art as well as much more to be
revealed on both art and music line-ups soon.
