After a warming reception to the first episode, streamed on Amazon Prime last year, The Tick is being revived as a full series of 12 episodes. With the first six released on 25th August 2017, while the rest will be in early 2018.

Based on the US comic book of the same name, The Tick was created in 1986 as a newsletter mascot for the New England Comics chain of comic book stores in Boston. In 1988, the Tick was given his own comic book series, which lead to an animated TV series in 1994, a video game and then a live action sitcom in 2001 starring Patrick Warburton.

As promised by the latest trailer for the new series, we can expect “An epic tale ripe with destiny, adventure, blood loss, and good against evil.” We can also expect the series to feature plenty of slapstick as well as some hilarious dialogue and banter that seems reminiscent of Captain America and Superman.

The Tick stars Peter Serafinowicz as the blue-suited man himself and Griffin Newman as sidekick Arthur Everest, both of whom seem at home in their roles and cast well.

Whether we hear the infamous battle cries of “Spoooooon!” and “Not in the face! Not in the face!” remain to be seen, but from the looks of it, there will be plenty of opportunities for them and plenty for fans to enjoy.
