South Park is set to be continuing its visits to the Denver Broncos stadium in the form of character cardboard cutouts.

Comedy Central announced this past Friday that a portion of Empower Field at Mile High will be packed with all new cutouts, including some from the recent “Pandemic Special” episode of the hit cartoon that aired last month in the US. The Broncos lost to their rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs yesterday.

A lot of sports and live event franchises have had to adapt to crowd-less environments, the NBA had fans virtually watching games on screens, the WWE took on a similar approach, investing resources to create the state of the art WWE ThunderDome, and the NFL has adapted with virtual fans via Microsoft Teams, with the Denver Broncos injecting a bit of a cartoon crossover, allowing all 1,800 of the South Park characters from the show to be added to the crowd via cutouts, most recently when the Broncos recently played the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are huge Broncos fans, growing up in Colorado and meeting at the University of Colorado, Boulder. It was at university that the idea for South Park came to be. The characters in the series also love the Broncos, with the team getting regular mentions and the players being name-dropped multiple times throughout the cartoon’s run ever since the 1997 pilot episode.

During the “Pandemic Special” South Park took several shots at essentially everything and everyone that dominated headlines in 2020, including COVID-19, Donald Trump, police brutality, Disney and more. The special seemed to take a big comedic bite out of all things 3030 and fans seemed to lap it of loving every second.
