The new series of Orange is the New Black will focus on the stories of other characters, giving fans a different perspective of life within the prison.

The original series has become Netflix’s most popular creation since it’s debut last year and revolves around the goings on inside a women’s prison.

The second series will take over from the dramatic finale of the first series in which we seen a whole new side to main character Piper Chapman.

It has been confirmed that the second series will no longer be mainly focused around the character Piper, but will move around the different stories of the other inmates, giving the audience more to look forward to and connect to.

The creator of the series Jenji Kohan has confirmed that we will be looking into the backstories of characters Morello, Sister Ingalls, Taystee, Poussey, Ms. Rosa and Vee in series 2.

Vee will be a new character introduced to the prison, while we will see Vause exiting the prison after appearing in just four episodes.

Jenji has admitted how scared she was of creating a second series after the first series did so well.

‘No one wants to have a sophomore slump, and expectations got so high. It’s terrifying. But ultimately, you have to keep your head down, and just keep making the doughnuts. I’ll have a nervous breakdown soon, but I don’t know when that’s going to happen.’

The 16 second long trailer released by Netflix earlier this year doesn’t give much away about character backstories but gives you a quick view of some of your favourite characters back in action.

If you haven’t already started watching the hit series, with the new season being premiered in under a month, head over to Netflix to catch up on series 1.

Watch the trailer here and get ready for Orange is the New Black season 2 returning to Netflix on June 6.
