Marvel are looking to capitalise on the success of their S.H.I.E.L.D TV series by working behind the scenes on a wave of spin off shows.

The House of Spidey is putting together a package of four drama series and a miniseries — making a total of 60 episodes, which they will push out to the VOD market, with Netflix, Amazon and WGN America touted as potential homes.

TV insiders at Deadline Hollywood have said there’s already interest from digital platforms and the traditional cable networks, with very little talent attached.

The Marvel press team have declined to comment.

In addition to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which has now won a full-season order, Marvel is developing a TV series concept inspired by Agent Carter. A one shot show featured on the Blu-ray release of Iron Man 3.

It is unclear whether that project is being earmarked for ABC or would be part of the VOD/cable package.

Committing to 60 episodes is a big undertaking for any network or digital service, but for many outlets new to scripted programming would quickly benefit from fan interest and build on the Marvel brand.
