NBC has revealed plans to revive the cult TV show Heroes for a stand alone 13 part mini series called Heroes Reborn.

In a press release following a reveal trailer, NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke confirmed the news and announced the involvement of original creator Tim Kring.

Kring’s original series spelled out a promising future for the show. But, the following three seasons failed to deliver after the story suffered a shaky treatment during the 2007 WGA writers strike.

As a result the Heroes ended unfavourably with fans, possibly owing to the rumours that other studios attempts to revive the show have had no success.

But, Salke has announced that she believes NBC is the right studio to bring back the series.

In a statement she said: “Shows with that kind of resonance don’t come around often and we thought it was time for another instalment. We’re thrilled that visionary creator Tim Kring was as excited about jumping back into this show as we were and we look forward to all the new textures and layers Tim plans to add to his original concept.”

It has been confirmed that the new mini series will feature a whole new cast and focus on a world that realises the existence of super powers following Claire’s reveal at the end of season four.

However, Salke has strongly hinted to their will be a strong possibility that we will see cameos from the original cast members.

“We won’t rule out the possibility of some of the show’s original cast members popping back in.”

With importance of the characters like Noah Bennet, many fans of the show believe cameos from the original cast will be essential to the shows future success.

No official air-date has been given for the mini series, but NBC has revealed we expect it some time in 2015, until then Salke has assured that the series will be shrouded in mystery.
